Is Virginia Becoming the Next California?

Virginia Democrats promised moderation. What Virginians are getting instead is an aggressive progressive agenda reshaping our Commonwealth at breakneck speed.

This week’s developments make one thing increasingly clear:

Virginia is being pushed down the same path as California—unless voters push back.

Gun Control Expansion Signed Into Law

Governor Abigail Spanberger signed and amended a sweeping package of new gun restrictions this week, delivering one of the most aggressive anti-Second Amendment policy packages in modern Virginia history.

Supporters call it “gun safety.”Many Virginians see it for what it is:

More restrictions on law-abiding citizens while criminals ignore the law.

For rural Virginians, hunters, sportsmen, veterans, and constitutional conservatives, this is a major warning sign.

Redistricting Vote Approaches April 21

Virginia voters are days away from deciding whether to approve a constitutional amendment allowing politicians to reopen congressional redistricting.

National Democrats are pouring resources into this fight because they know what’s at stake:

Control of Virginia’s congressional map—and potentially the U.S. House.

If this were truly about fairness, they wouldn’t need national political figures and outside money to sell it.

Virginia Joins National Popular Vote Compact

Governor Spanberger also signed Virginia into the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact—an agreement that would effectively give away Virginia’s electoral votes to whichever presidential candidate wins the national popular vote.

That means:

Virginia voters could choose one candidate… and Virginia’s electoral votes could go to another.

Many conservatives see this as surrendering Virginia’s voice to larger blue states like California and New York.

100+ Amendments Reveal Activist Governing Style

The Governor issued over 100 amendments to legislation passed by the General Assembly—touching everything from paid leave and labor policy to cannabis and immigration.

Taken individually, these changes may seem technical.Taken together, they reveal a broader truth:

This is not moderate governance. This is systematic ideological transformation.

Data Center Backlash Rising

As data center expansion surges across Virginia, voters are increasingly concerned about:

  • Rising utility costs

  • Strain on local infrastructure

  • Environmental impact

  • Special treatment for politically connected developers

Virginians are asking:

Why do corporations get sweetheart deals while families get higher electric bills?
Virginia voters must decide:Do we preserve the Virginia we know and love—or allow Richmond to turn us into the next California?

Stay informed. Stay engaged. Vote accordingly.
